SF Bay Area native gardeners--
I was speaking with Katherine Greenberg, President of the Friends of the
Regional Parks Botanic Garden (Tilden/ Berkeley/ all-native ten-acre
garden), and she said there's still some spaces available for the Friends'
educational/fund-raiser tour of the all-native Yerba Buena Nursery in
Woodside on Sunday, October 17th. A tour of the demonstration garden will
be led by Glenn Keator (teacher, botanist, and author of "Complete Garden
Guide to the Native Shrubs of California" and "Complete Garden Guide to the
Native Perennials of California" and "The Life of an Oak: An Intimate
Portrait"). Lunch will be served in the farmhouse. Then Judith Lowry
(owner of Larner's Seeds in Bolinas and author of "Gardening with a Wild
Heart") will give a slide lecture on "Gerta Isenberg, Native Plants Pioneer
and founder of Yerba Buena Nursery." Cost is $25. For information, call
Ron Clendenen at 925.631.6614.
