pronouncing latin

Knowing your latin can be a godsend!
When I first arrived in Turkey it rapidly became apparent that learning Turkish would be a priority - However from the very first days I was able to go into any nursery or garden centre and use our mutual language - (botanical) Latin.  I was able to fax lists of plants for pricing and orders and the universal knowledge of the plants through our common language enabled me to achieve far more than would otherwise have been possible - it is wonderful that we all have this common nomenclature - so who cares how it is pronounced!!  (and I have come across some REALLY WIERD ways of pronouncing Weigela!)
