I'm ashamed to admit it, but yes :).

Actually the reason is, the backyard is a very weedy tangle of Kikuyu
grass, annual Eropean grasses and ice plant. Just this year i decided to
clear out a patch and grow something (Currently Indian corn and Tomatoes).
It was hard work just clearing out the ten by ten foot patch i did manage
to dig up. So, as i said, this is my first time trying them :).

Well i thought i had two kinds of beefsteak type tomatoes, but one
variety is forming oblong plum shaped fruits (I think they may have
mislabled them at the nursery). This is the variety my small tomato came
from. Since we dont have a lot of heat the plants have been slow to set
fruit, but i'm getting a lot now, and it seems that the first variety are
all plum or romas.

This is the second type. The second type has fruits that are round, and a
little flattened. These have been a little slower to set fruit than the
other kind.

Does water also play a role in how big your tomatoes will become?
Currently i water once a week, and they are still happy (one plant is so
much bigger than the others).
It's not that I am complaining about the tomatoes being smaller than how I
thought they should be. To me, it's all about the taste so size really
doesnt matter too much :).

Anyway Nan, thanks for the info!
