Re: Klehn Peonies

Linda,

Yes, Klehn Peonies have a beautiful catalogue, and it does take a long time to get peonies to their proper rhizome planting stage---plus these guys have developed so many new beautiful varieties.

Klehn has taken peonies to a entirely new class above.  I'm still planting the old fashion cheaper varieties from places around this area such as the North Carolina Farmer's Market.
Peonies are just one of the many favorite plants that we have planted in our home flower garden--it is such as easy plant to care for.  They are budding here and getting ready to bloom.

Yes, Klehm may seem expensive compared to what's sold at WalMart, etc.
but what arrives is so much better.  Big healthy rhizomes in colors and
types never seen other places.

Peonies are also known as 'Century Plant' and I believe they can easily
live that long.  When we bought this home. there was / is a row of
peonies that were used to mark the two different plots of land.  They
have now been there for more than 60 years.  Think of them as life time
investments - yours and many generations to come!

Chris,

Some great info.  I love peonies and have the Klehm catalogue--they are
sooooo expensive.
