Round-Up and dandelions

Round-Up doesn't do the job on dandelions. Oh, it kills them
eventually, but it doesn't stop them in their tracks. It's been a good
two weeks since I sprayed the weeds, and while they are now shriveled
enough to pull without tools, in the meantime the bud turned into
flowers and went to seed!
Current approach: Every day or two I scout around for the yellow
flowers, then pull off the flowers and all the buds I can get in one
grab. Then I spray the base of the plant with Round-Up. Will let you
know if this works any better.
