It does indeed spread so much that it is difficult to control.  I liked it  the
first few years after I bought my one (1) plant and I didn't try to stop it's
spread..  Now it is everywhere.

Also, one should be careful when pulling it out of the ground.  The stems and
roots exude a bright yellow dye that is hard to remove from clothing.
