Re: Carex testactea

From Darke's *Encyclopedia of Ornamental Grasses*..."Clump-forming, making a fine-textured mound of foliage to 15" (38cm) tall, copper-brown in summer with distinct orange tints in winter.  Appreciates moisture, good drainage.  Self sows pleasantly.  One of the cold-hardier new Zealanders.  Zone 6."

Also, that is a great plant for Lowe's to carry.  Our Lowe's never has anything good, especially ornamental grasses.  They have very comman perennials, but they at least have much better plants than Home Depot.  I get most of mine from specialty nurseries, anyway.
