I do not believe that I have had any two springs the same here in ten years,
you just adjust. This year was a very good year for plants living over the
winter and this due, I believe, to the second coldest March on record (we had
no warm up in earl March-which is a killer around here) . Even all the
potted Iris made it, which is a very rare accomplishment.
We had a F 92 and an F 86 this week but a windstorm came into town with hail
and some rain and things have cooled down a little and we should be back to
70's.
Crocuses - Three days for flowers and they are done, no need to plant any
more, the Hepatica look real nice this year and I should grow more, Blood
root bloomed for two days during the heat up and are done now.
Speaking of pesky rodents, I potted up 50 Tall garden Phlox and the UPS guy
came, went up to help him unload a few boxes and returned to finish up
potting up the next fifty Phlox-accursed squirrels dug in every pot of the
phlox while I was gone for 20 minutes.
I have told them again and again not to do such things but gentle persuasion
is not working-time for tough hate.
Thank fully no vole damage this year, the hawks must have done there work
last year -- so lots of nice grasses this year.
