Re: busting out all over

In one 2' by 2' space I have blooming a Daphne, a
siberian iris, a late daff and a purple tulip. I
should take a pic of this rarity!
Here in western oregon we had a couple of weeks of
actual sun and warm before the grey cloudy skys and
rain took over again. The daffs all bloomed like mad
and on their heels were tulips, which are all almost
gone in my yard already. I keep writing myself notes
to buy late blooming daffs and tulips but come sept I
have lost my notes <g>.
Of course along with the bulbs are all the flowering
fruit trees in bloom and they are glorious this time
of year. In an older area of Portland, there is a
Victorian Style house painted the same color of creamy
yellow as the flowering fruit tree- they painted it
that color to look wonderful for a 2 week period once
a year...of course the color is pretty but when the
tree is blooming along with daffs and other bulbs, the
place is fantastic to look at.
2 years ago I painted my house a pale yellow with King
Alfred Daff colored trim and an Aubergine door in
front and on the french doors from the deck. The
house was white with green trim (blah looking) before.
This year, with the daffs in bloom my daughter
commented that the house looked like something from a
magazine. they all thought I was wacky with my color
choices but now that I have more blues and purples in
bloom the aubergine isn't so radical looking.
Or as my hubby calls it-the yellow house with the
purple front door. I took plenty of pictures so I
know where to plant more daffs this fall.
Isn't gardening wonderful?
