Be aware that fresh Corydalis seed generally germinates readily, but
this genus is considered ephemeral and dry stored seed may never
germinate or may take years....or as some have posted on other lists,
may show up in an odd spot from re-using discarded seedpot soil
(having given up on the pot of seeds and pitched it).
If the seed is stored moist, it has a better chance of remaining
viable for a while. Some have opined that most dry stored Corydalis
seed is dead by January (when harvested during the previous gardening
season).
C. parnassica, C. wilsonii, C. tomentella, C. rutifolia, C.
linstowiana, C. ophiocarpa, seed from the section Chrysocapnos (C.
gortschakovii is one), and annual forms have been germinated from
seed exchange seed according to assorted posts I've saved over the
years. Most other species have been dismal failures for some really
expert seed growers when using dry stored seed.
Not trying to discourage growing this genus from seed; people just
need to be aware of the possible results using dry stored seed. Get
your seed fresh if you can:-)!
