Platycodon

Hi all--
I have some platycodon in pots that I was too lazy to get in the ground
last year. Wintered them over in the garage and they are fine. They have
formed bulbous looking roots in the pots -- partly above the soil line,
and new shoots are coming from this. My question is, when I put them in
the ground, how deep should that "bulb" part be planted? Should I leave
it partly above ground or put it below the soil line, and if so how far?
Thanks!
