I thought that for a while, but then I had an injury one summer and lots of 
things sacrificed themselves to give me more spots in the garden.  So 
thoughtful!  :)

But generally speaking, I find myself tending to buy smaller plants -- 
alpines, succulents, miniature hosta, etc.

Nice!  How much water does the Acorus take?  We get bone-dry down here, so I 
haven't tried yet.  I've tried the Geum, but suspect that my drainage wasn't 
good enough.
