Helenium autumnale


        I live in the San Francisco Bay Area (Los Gatos, zone 9) and am trying 
Helenium autumnale for the second time. The first plants sulked and never 
returned this spring. My growing conditions are relatively good drainage (raised
soil bed) of rocky loam, with summer irrigation. Has anyone in the area grown 
this plant ?. Is it sensitive to summer heat etc.. ?
