After visiting my parents who were living in Italy at the time, I too fell
in love with the ivy-leaf geraniums. They are available at several garden
centers in my area (Raleigh, NC), but I have been somewhat less than
satisfied with their performance in my climate. I think it is just to hot
here in the summer for them to do as beautifully as in Europe.
..... No, I think not. Geraniums (Pelargoniums) thrive on maximum sunshine. One
year I went on holiday for a month and stupidly left all my plants in a conservatory.
The summer was very hot. When I returned all of the tropicals were frazzled, the
only survivors were Pelargoniums which had almost taken over the space they
were so happy (plus a few cacti). Of course they like a drink occasionally.... but
don't we all!
