 Chris,
I have no idea the ph of the soil in these areas.  There are no
evergreens nearby, although both areas have thriving lilacs nearby.
As for the native plants, Weeds grow great!  Grand Burdock in the sunny
area.
The Sunny plot is directly behind my mailbox.  The bed is 4'x8'.  I
thought I might start with a clemitis on the mailbox post.  
The Shade garden is actully on top of rock ledges which stagger down to
ground level in the form of 3 wide steps.  Each ledge is about 1-2 feet
wide and 7 feet long ( in the future I can prepare more of the ledges to
go about 20 feet more)
