Hi Linda,
"CCA" stands for chromium, copper, and arsenic which are the main
ingredients of the treatment that is given to green and brown lumber.
I have not seen Cedar wood being treated before because it has its
own natural rot fighting ingredients. I question that this would even
be necessary especially considering the studies that have shown the
arsenic leaching into the ground around the timbers. I could talk
about this more but I am not sure that I should considering the scope
of this list. I would stay away from it myself. "Plain old" Cedar is
an excellent choice and if you want a little extra protection, I
think the various Water sealers that you brush on is less hazardous
IMHO.
