Ideas for a new '99 bed

For those of you who may not know, my garden here in Montana is for the
most part considered zone 4. I push the line a little now and them.
Because it is such a mild winter this year, I even have tree peonies
loaded with bloom. I've been cutting my clematis back today and lots of
it is live to the top! There are microclimates around. Close to the rims
it is more of a regular zone 5 area. At least peaches can be grown
there.
Being that I'm a collector type of gardener, I'm always looking for the
unusual or different that I haven't seen. We have no botanical or
horticultural gardens here. Only commercial and private gardens. And of
course, commercial gardens mostly sell only what is common or what their
wholesaler is pushing for the year. They do seem to be getting more
perennials now, but I still rely on mail order sources for new stock.
