you keep it pruned back to a smaller size easily and without hurting it?

Yes, Greg, yours is edible. 'Tuscan Blue' is a big
fellow growing to 6' or
more with rigid upright branches growing from the base
of the plant. The
leaves are rich green and blue violet flowers. Or, at
least, so says Sunset.
