BT is Bacillus thurungis(sp). BT is a type of bacteria that is lethal
to certain insects. Fungus gnats and caterpillars, to be specific.
Bear this in mind, in that if you have a butterfly garden, this is NOT
going to benefit them.
Fungus gnats eat fungus that grows on the surface of soil that is kept
damp all the time. ie your seed flats. They are happy to exist on
this, until their population explodes, at which time they begin to do
some damage to small hair roots.
