I grow the common white datura. I started with a few plants several
years ago. Now it volunteers every spring. I have to keep a close watch
out so my husband doesn't hoe them all up. He is not a fan only because
they are at the front of the driveway bed and are huge! The plants get
about 2 1/2' tall and then flop a little with big leaves and extrememly
large white trumpet flowers. Yes it is poisoness but we grow a lot of
plants that are. The only ones I was a littel worried about when my kids
were little were the berries off the nightshade vines that grow around
here wild. I am constantly tearing them out. The berries are very bright
and look enough like currants that a child might be tempted to try some.
