Some years ago, in a British magazine Tania Compton, wife of Jamie Compton
who with Martin Rix and John D'Arcy discovered (in western Sichuan) the
first three forms of Corydalis flexuosa to be widely distributed, described
these cultivars as follows: "'Pere David' has clear sky-blue flowers atop
fresh green leaves whereas the young foliage of 'China Blue' is tinged with
copper. 'Purple Leaf' is a form whose deep green leaves and darker blue
flowers are tinged with reddish-purple." Mind you, I'm not sure you could
actually distinguish them from these descriptons!
These three forms are also still sometimes seen listed in catalogues under
their original collectors numbers: 'Purple Leaf' - CD&R528a; 'Pere David' -
CD&R528b; 'China Blue' - CD&R528c.
