I live in the "big city" of Louisville, KY. Warm here due to the concrete.
I agree with you on the monarda. I have the purple-flowering variey --
can't remember the name. It's EVERYWHERE and I don't even have the ideal
conditions for it! Speaking of spreaders, does anyone know just how a
daylily can come up in the cracks of your driveway which is a car length's
distance from the nearest daylily bed? There's no way anyone could have
put the roots in this crack because it's barely enough room for the
foliage.
