Hi Bob,
Glad to know you're happy with it. If I understand correctly, zoysia just
sort of moves in a mass encrouching on whatever is near it.
As opposed to our bermuda grass, which sends out underground runners,
aerial runners and seed. How deep is your edging?
Our Rose beds are covered in landscape fabric, the cheap one from Walmart.
WeedX? I use Typar on most other things where I use fabric, but it was
handy at the time. Anyway, there is the grass, then the 3 hole brick on
edge as a mowing strip, with the fabric wrapped under and around the brick
edging. The fabric is covered with white marble chips. If the zoysia creeps
through the bricks, it will just sit on the rocks. (no laughing!)
If it oozes in a mass like I think it does, then I can just snip it back a
few times a year or have a round up fest.
The big question is, can you overseed it effectively with annual or
perennial rye? If not, how long does it stay brown in your area?
Thanks,
