Re: freesia

Many years ago I tried them in my container garden but didn't get a lot of
blooms. I attribute my lack of success to the quality of the bulbs. I have
yet to find a local garden centre that sells bulbs, tubers, etc. of decent
quality.

I've been thinking of trying them again and this time order them from
Cruickshank's. They're at bit more expensive but I would rather pay for
blooms than have my money turn into "compost."

Cruickshank's catalogue lists freesia as zone 9 but they tend to be rather
conservative with their ratings. Freesia might survive zone 8. I think
that you can also lift them and store them over the winter.
