Hi Susan,
I believe you are talking about Salvia cochinea (sp?) "Coral Nymph". It is
perennial here in zone 9 but is treated as an annual in colder areas. If so,
it is not at all fussy. It self sows here to the point of being something of
a weed. Warm temperature (over 70), full sun, normal watering and good
drainage are the only requirements.
