RE: Edgings

Betty in Western New York (near Buffalo) Zone 5

An edging I particularly like is the perennial candytuft, iberis. In early
spring it is completely covered with white flowers. The rest of the time,
the dark green foliage looks beautiful. It can be kept neat with a shearing
after the flowers fade. In time, a most attractive, hedge is formed. It
may be 8 to 10 inches tall or so. It can be sheared back rather hard, I've
found, and quickly recovers its handsome appearance. It needs full sun for
the best results.
