Boy can I relate! I bought campanula portenshclagiana (sp? - close) and
read conflicting culture information as well. Obviously, the location is
everything -- as in -- in the South, shade is necessary. But in the PNW --
sun and drainage. Gosh there has to be a better way to address all this,
you'd think!

For mine is a little old fashioned garden where the flowers come
together to praise the Lord and teach all who look upon them to do
likewise.
