hibuscus questions
I have lived in my Willamette Valley Or Zone 8 old house for 25 years.
There is a tree outside the bathroom on the north side of the house that
has yellow blooms in the spring and purple blooms right now.
I never knew what it was till my daughter, who just returned from Maui,
Hawai'i said "Mom - it's a hibiscus" In Oregon? What a shocker to me!
This tree is higher than the roof of my 2 story house, has had little
trimming except when it has become too sprawly and never fed specific
food. It is in a garden area that I mulch and compost yearly, which
grows ferns, hosta and bleeding heart like mad.
I then realized that the pink bush which I have hacked down down the
same side of the house, and which has regrown, is also a hibiscus.
I know nothing about this tropical plant, except that it ain't tropical
in Oregon!
Any ideas?
