Dear all,
Bitsy is currently re-blooming here. Just began re-bloom about a week or
two ago. I do not recall it re-blooming in any former year. But so is
Siloam Little Girl re-blooming; I do not remember it ever having done so
before.
There are a lot of photos about of Bitsy. If you just have to have one,
I will take a photo of mine and either post it to the list or send it to
anyone who wants it privately.
It is what I would describe as a somewhat funel-shaped flower, although
fully open, with dark stems (first bloom when it was in full sun),
bright yellow self. Very cute.
I had it in full sun but it languished there for a couple years. Just
moved it over in front of a fence where it gets shade in morning and
some in very late afternoon and gets a lot more water now. It is
positively flourishing now - more increase in the last two months than
in the previous two years (or more), and looks much better with
something immediately behind it; due probably to the small flower size.
Second scapes are blooming at about 24 inches, and are the standard
medium green. First set of scapes were 30+ inches.
I like dls with narrow and wiry stems, and this Bitsy has. It is reputed
in some of the gardening magazines as being a very long-blooming
cultivar. But that may depend upon how it is sited or upon geographic
climate.
Regardless, it does not take up much space; having narrow, grass-like
foliage, and is very worth the space it does take.
Barb --
I can't refer you to an on-line photo, but 'Bitsy' is an excellent small
daylily, lemon-yellow flowers, starts blooming early in the season and
reblooms throughout the summer. Scapes are a bit taller and the flowers
a bit smaller than those of 'Happy Returns.'
