lobelia cardinalis

I'm in NYS zone 5, but in the mountains, where we have been known to
have a first frost in the middle of September, but not for the last few
years;

I have lobelia cardinalis growing in two different areas:

one set is in part shade, under trees, not very wet soil at all; these
were put in last fall, and are now in flower, and are gorgeous,
especially when the setting sun lights them up;

the other set is growing on the slope leading down to a stream; this is
also in flower now; last spring when I was cleaning up this area I
inadvertently pulled one plant apart, so then I put both pieces back in
but separately; this was fine with them, and now I have one more plant
than when I started;

this is definitely one plant worth growing, as it does survive the
winters, grows in part shade, and the colors are stunning!
