Don, Logee's has a picture of a Solandra Maxima Variegated
(a.k.a. 'Variegated Golden Chalice) on the cover of their
2001 catalogue. The flowers and shape of the plant appear
to be very similar to yours.
Here's the blurb from the catalogue:
"For a winter blooming vine, this tropical American species
puts on a spectacular show. Its immense 8" golden blooms
resembling large cups adorn the growing tips from fall
through midwinter. Flower buds re-emerge on the terminal
growth giving this vigorous climber an extended blooming
season. Adding to this is the beautiful variegated foliage,
which highlights its floral form. When out of bloom and in
active growth the juvenile tips carry a purple hue.
Full to partial sun, grows to 3-to 6' in container, vining
in habit, minimum temperature 50 degrees, blooms in fall and
winter."

I ordered some plants for the first time from Logees this
summer:
Jasminum Polyanthum (a.k.a. "Winter Jasmine")
Clerodendrum Thomsoniae (a.k.a. "Glory Bower" or "Bleeding
Heart Vine")
Clerodendrum Ugandense (a.k.a. "Butteryfly Flower")
Thunbergia Grandiflora (a.k.a. "Blue Skyflower")
Thunbergia Erecta
Since it was already hot here in Texas, I had them ship the
plants overnight, and they arrived in fine condition. The
plants themselves were the healthiest of any that I have
received via mail order.
Logee's offers a large collection of passion flowers too. I
plan on trying them next.
