Pat, I can relate to what you are saying about blue and white and having enough of that. My house is on a hill and was gray when I bought it (now butter yellow with white trim -- great background for the plants, which I didn't realize until AFTERWARD). Nine months a year, driving up the hill and seeing the gray house against the gray sky in Oregon was MORE than enough for me!
Your garden sounds lovely -- I surely didn't mean to malign anyone's color preferences! Part of the issue is we all see color DIFFERENTLY to begin with. I always knew this was true but experienced it acutely when shopping for fabric for a quilt with my sister. We are both very color-sensitive and specific as to our likes and dislikes and are usually on the same page. We grew up in the same house. We both sew. But repeatedly we saw reds, even blues and greens, TOTALLY differently -- to the point of calling things black when the other saw it as green...
For someone who does not care for orange, I adore red in all its shades, so ... so much for typically liking cool, RESTFUL colors... although I only ever "accent" with red....

The nasturtium survives because of me, I think. I adore orange and
rich egg yolk yellows. I have an area set aside as a *hot* garden
with only reds, yellows, and oranges allowed. It is the garden that
gets the most positive comments. I stick orange cosmos seeds and
nasturtium seeds in every garden I have and I STILL have people
complementing my gardens.
I have large pots of bright red callas and brilliant orange
nasturtiums under them that stop traffic. Perhaps people don't like
orange in their OWN garden, but they love it in mine!
I have very few blue flowers and even less white. My theory is that
blue and white are constant colors during the winter here (not in
flowers; in the snow and its shadows) and 7 months of blue and white
are more than enough for me.
