Marge,
Thanks for your ornamental grass comments. Most helpful. Regarding overwintering, I think dark can be OK. The Arnold Arboretum routinely overwinters their rather nice Bonsai collection in a windowless warehouse! I am planning to overwinter my potted cannas in a cool part of the cellar, keeping them in the pots (whacking the tops of course).

Not Marilyn here, but I overwintered mine in my cool g.h. last winter
- just moved the pot in before hard frost. I kept pot watered as it
also contained other things - all of which came through fine and are
now looking just as good as they did last year.
Concerned that overwintering in a dark (assume dark) garage might not
work as mine got light...never went dormant; just stopped putting out
new growth or doing much as the g.h. gets down to 40F and a tad lower
at floor level.

Susan, Yes. Some years I'm successful and others not. I never
save it over, so when I do I am delighted. I try to get them intothe GH
before they are totally dormant. All you have to do is keep theroots from
freezing. I put them down on the gravel floor under the GH benchand water
sparingly.On Behalf

Steve,
I decided to try something really big and bold this year -
'Condensatus'. This is a huge one at 10-14 ft.! Mine are 8-9'already in 2
gallon pots and haven't started to form the purple flowers yet! Ican't
wait to see this puppy in bloom! It has been a hot item here inthe
nursery.foliage is
Another new-to-me grass is Molinia arundinacea 'Skyracer'. The
low & compact, but the flower stems grow sky high. Very dramatic.Using it
to best advantage in the garden has been a challenge for me.and
The others I dearly love are Pennisetum setaceum 'Rubrum' (18")
'Burgundy Giant' (5'). They are zone 8-10 tender perennials andused like
annuals, but you simply can't beat that dark burgundy blade and thepuffy
pink foxtails. They make any container look lavish!blue
Hakonechloa macra 'Aureola' is still hot here, as is almost any
colored grass.On Behalf

Hi all,
Was just putting together a little something on ornamental grasses
thought I'd ask the group what's the latest and hottest. Last Iheard,
Calamagrostis acutiflora Karl Foerster and Hakonechloa macra`Aureola'
were what were chic. But I tend to be out of touch.---------------------------------------------------------------------
