I don't know that I would call myself a "fan". But I think he is
enthusiastic and will find his pace and voice with time. I agree some in
depth study of a few things would be good. As you suggested - grafting
perhaps - a tricky endeavor (and I have the cut up thumbs to prove it!), or
some soil science would be great. I have thought that a single episode
dispelling garden myths would also be good. Some things that are proven
incorrect have become legends in their own time and get retold as correct
information. For example, putting pot shards or rocks in the bottom of
containers before planting to enhance drainage. I'm sure everyone could
think of at least one (incorrect) myth.
Today I would rate a 9.5 on a scale of 1-10. Sunny, 80F, light breeze, the
perfume of roses in the air, I didn't find any slugs or aphids in my garden
this a.m.......ahhhh life is good!

I am glad he has at least one fan. I shall try to like him as he is the
best
we are going to get for at least one more year. Do you really think that if
a program concentrates on one genus or on one tricky procedure that they
will
lose enough audience to make it so generalized. I would not mind watching
an
expert do some grafting slowly and explain the aftercare, that sort of
thing.
I would also like some real information on pH and certain types of plants.
Chris, our list owner, and acetic acid (vinegar) experimenter has a pal in
Roger Swain. He is very environmentally friendly and asking for suggestions
BWO the magazine that is sponsoring him. There may be a connection there,
never give up, Chris. That is Swain's first love.
