I remember the days when here in the northeast we never had to water all
summer, because it would rain for a day or so once a week, and that took
care of it!
But for the last six years or so, watering is the only way to keep
things alive.
I use long, long hoses, and set them so they're just giving enough water
to soak into the ground, and leave them in place until whenever it seems
enough, then move the hose around. I have three different hoses for
about one and a half acres.
