sort of OT- asparagus

Although this may not be the proper list to send this too--- but here it goes-:)
I have to move a patch of asparagus to a new home. (DH is converting an area at my mothers now-URGH!- What is with men and wanting to move dirt all the time!)
So when is the best time to do this? Can I dig it up now and transplant it? Should I attempt to put this off for awhile- till fall- spring?????
