RE: now plants that are excelling in theheat/drought

Panicum virgatum 'Dallas Blues'
Sorry - that was a finger slip - I got mine at Home Depot and was thrilled to get it at $4. It clumps which adds to its charm!

We got rain yesterday!

Yes - a truly lovely color especially right now! Broad arching leaves
coming off the stalk.
Cheryl
Is it as blue as 'Elijah Blue'? Sounds like a great grass.

Sorry - it is an ornamental grass - current around 4.5 to 5 feet tall
and just coming into flower!
I love the idea of growing with a caryoptersis of any shade, but they
are annuals for me :(
Cheryl
What plant is Dallas Blues?

I have that same scabiosa, Cheryl, growing with caryopteris 'Dark
Knight' and a dark pink Japanese anemone.

I have a yellow scabiosa (Scabiosa ochroleuca) scattered about the
gardens - it appears completely unaffected by the heat and lack of
water!

One happy accident has it in front of Dallas Blues - a quiet
combination of palest yellow and blue!
I will find my way clear to snapping a shot of that today!

Cheryl

Pat-
Mine seem to fade out in color earlier than normal in this dreaded
heat and humidity... which is back again today... but server storms
expected tonight.

I vote for the Blue Globe thistle (Echinops) in the heat and drought.
Very prolific and quite lovely. A goldfinch sitting on
that lovely
blue globe makes them the prettiest thing in the garden!
