Lynn, In my former life I was a park & tree superintendent for 20
years. I used Roundup many times, very successfully.
We would start by laying a hose down along the edge of the bed and sprayed
the grass with Roundup. The hose prevented the drift onto the grass to be
saved. A couple of hours later, when the Roundup had dried up, it was our
signal that the grass had absorbed the Roundup. We then tilled the sod by
hand or machine. The grass almost always died, but the compost value of
the grass was still available. We never noticed any die back from other
plants in the area nor on the new plants either.
