Perennials

Could anyone suggest plants that would survive and thrive above a septic
tank in zone 5?  There is a thin layer of soil with lawn above the tank now
and it's the first area to turn yellow in a drought.  I could add some soil,
of course.  Another concern would be in early spring when the soil around
the tank warms up and would encourage plants to grow.  They would most
likely be frozen later on.  Maybe there are no plants that tough...
