need information

I just purchased today, a Bromeliad, and I know nothing. The only thing I know is that you are suppose to keep water in the top of the plant. I don't know what kind of potting soil to use, any oganic matter, any whatever, do you keep the soil moist? do you water the soil on a regular time table.
WHAT?
is there a web site that give any information on this plant? I haven't been able to fine on thus far.
