I'm so glad you all started writing on this list again, because I lost my address for it, and have been dying to
ask this question:
regarding using big pots to keep perennials in, I just did this to some "fairie'"roses which I've had a long time,
moving them over and over to get them to do better; I think the pot will work, but need the lowdown on how
to keep them over the winter, here in NYS, zone 5;
the book I have says to give it lots of water up to freezing time, then store the pot somewhere "protected",
and wait till spring;
we just enclosed a porch, but it will be only screened, not behind glass; so the temps will go below freezing
there;
or, we could put the pot in the basement where we store dahlia bulbs, in a dark corner, where it's not warm,
but definitely won't go below 32 degrees F.
Any advice would be appreciated.
