I would just move the seed. They just die too easily for me. Not the red and blue but the other colors. Think it's the difference in growing conditions front nursery to my soil. Would love white seed. On August 22, 2017, at 7:36 PM, Kitty Morrissy <1018@rewrite.hort.net> wrote: Thanks Nancy, I suppose it is. It’s a shame as they’re really pretty when they bloom. I guess it’s a lost cause for this season. Maybe I can work on giving that area better air circulation next year; maybe a bit more sun. I wonder if I should separate the white Lobelias out to an area of their own. Kitty From: o*@hort.net [mailto:o*@hort.net] On Behalf Of Nancy Robinson Sounds like fungi problem. I wish for white Lobelia but white and pink and maroon die. The red and blue does great except last summer when it was too hot and very dry here in Tennessee. ----------------------------------------- From: "Kitty Morrissy" <1*@rewrite.hort.net> Hi all, It’s been a bit of an odd summer…I have a question about Persicaria virginiana – I think my variety is ‘Brushstrokes’, green with a dark chevron, variable height, hot pink flowers. I started with one a few yrs back and now have a small stand of about 4 by 6 feet in sun w some shade from hottest sun. Just as they are reaching the stage of budding, the tips have all gone grey/taupe and there won’t be any flowers. There are volunteers throughout the yard that don’t have the problem and some in full sun that look great. I’ve never had this happen to them. Any ideas??? Lobelia siphilitica, I’ve had these for several years and a couple of them are blooming white – not light blue, but pure white. Is this a normal happenstance? Kitty |
