RE: Re Late summer bloomers and Lobelia Cardinalis

My Lobelia Cardinalis, which is in the garden for the second season, is just
now beginning to bloom- quite a bit later than last year.

I had several plants perform poorly this summer- an astilbe (can't remember
which- but it's a large one with lavender plumes) set bud and then they just
dried up and never really flowered. My Monarda was in bloom for no more than a
week! And these were in partial shade!

I too had a lobelia cardinalis last year that didn't come up this year. I
thought perhaps it was my wet spring and the fact that I had standing water
near my perennial garden (even though I planted them because they like moist
conditions). Thanks for passing on that you too had problems. Has anyone else
on the list had a problem with lobelia cardinalis? I planted it again this
year in a new bed and want to know what to expect.
