I don't have a clue as to who this is directed to, but I do have a comment.
Or two.
I'm in zone 5, Western New York and most of my A. taquetii are pretty much
through blooming. HOWEVER..........a pathetic little shrimp of a plant I
put in last year called Astilbe chinensis 'Superba' is just starting and is
breathtaking. It took off like I wish ALL plants would take off. Looks
like it's been in the same spot for years. It's a good 4 foot tall , has 15
glorious plumes and the color is a rich, deep, rosy lavender. It seems to
have spreading tendencies, but I'll move other things to accomadate it if
needed.
Astilbe simplicifolia 'Sprite' is also just beginning. It's a wonderful
groundcover type in the front of that particular bed (Astilbes, Hostas,
Digitalis mertoninsis [gracing a boulder], and Japanese Anemones dominate).
Sorry to sound so goofy, but I've had a long day and 'Superba' absolutely
greeted when I came home; damn near good as a puppy.
