Hi, Patricia,
Good luck with your new garden...you asked about geraniums...there are
actually two different plants referred to as geraniums. First, there
are the annuals, the ones that are bright red, pink, you may see them in
flower boxes. However, these are really not geraniums...they are
pelargriums, or something like that....can't remember the exact
spelling...
Anyway, the true geraniums are perennials. There are quite a few
different varieties, but there are some which are almost groundcovers,
and which have a kind of scalloped leaf, and small flowers. These might
do well for a situation such as you have. I have one of these in an
area that gets maybe three hours of sun a day at best, and they are
doing wonderfully....a good number of blooms, and they have spread a
great deal. It did take them a year or so to get established, but now
that they have, they are wonderful, and I am hoping to be able to divide
them and spread them around a bit.
Marilyn
