Re: Purchasing by catalog
Nancy and all,
This is a very interesting and helpful thread..
As for my own experience I have ordered for many years now from Wayside
Gardens..And I sometimes feel that the plant size is somewhat small for
the money but they do carry varieties not commonly found.Their
service(guarantee) is outstanding in the event your dis-satisfied or
arrives in less than healthy condition.Never arguing with the
customer, always pleasant and polite. This quality alone has kept me
coming back for years now.Of course their catalog is one of the best
around and has helped educate me over the years where hardiness etc. is
concerned.
As my requirements have grown I found Forest Farms in Oregon to carry
many of the items I seek at affordable prices but short on the warranty
end(you must notify them immediately upon receipt of plant damage)never
got the impression that if you lost something due to winter kill that,
that would be covered. So would assume not but for the price and
selection will willingly take the risk.Their catalog is like a paper
back book and costs $4.but worth it if you love to research.Free there
after, if you order.
My biggest worry is the shipping and handling are becoming so
prohibitive and now with UPS back in the biz suspect the rates will be
going up once again to cover the cost of the strike.
Keep those posts coming on the subject as I always like to learn first
hand from others.
Kind of like our own "Consumer Report".Love this list.
