Hi Marge,
The soil that the Verbena b. is in was/is clay that I amended with composted
cow manure when my husband dug the new bed for me a couple of years ago. I
put a layer of mulch over it. Usually, I put the c.manure once in spring and
in the fall. However, last year, I didn't do this (pure procrastination on my
part) and the soil is dry, dry, dry, and even more so as we have not had any
rain in weeks. The Black-eyed Susan's that are planted there need a nightly
watering as by the time I get home from work their leaves are all drooping.
As for the Turtlehead, I just posted how I may get one. However, the spot I
was thinking of to put it in is to dry, so have another minuscule wet shade
area-my only one- to plant it.
