We were pleasantly surprised to see a hummingbird visiting our red
(Cambridge Scarlet) monarda. This is our first year for a perennial garden
and we really had not chosen plants for what they would attract, but more
for color and size and bloom time. So this was a very exciting moment! It
has come back several days in a row now. We have noticed lots of
butterflies and bees around one clump of monarda (Raspberry Wine)and annual
cornflowers (where the feeder and birdbath are), but this hummingbird was
in the red clump far away from that area. Will be interesting to see if it
(they) move over to the other clumps.
