Marge and Kemberly--
I think you are right about the soil. I have tried mixing in organic
fertilizer before I pot in the spring and it helped a bit but not enough.
I had bought 2 BIG bags of the old potting soil and fortunately it's
almost gone. I'll look around for the Jungle Grow or fancy equivalent and
may experiment with my own mix. I may have access to some horse manure
this fall and if so I guess it would be a good start once it's well
composted, plus the very mixed material from my compost pile.
One more question: Marge, won't the clay soil compact the mix in a pot?
We have clay here too and I remember WAY back when I first started
gardening I planted pots in mostly garden soil-- disaster!
Thanks so much,
Mary
