Easy, Gene.  I don't like to wear shoes, so my feet are often nude and callus 
at the same time!  

Gene's having some fun here, but for all you serious Latin students -- 
caulis is a stem in Latin.  So, you guessed it, nudicaulis means bare-stemmed.
